The problem with this country is BOTH the Democrats and Republicans. Anyone who seriously thinks that one side isn't corrupt or slaves to Corporate America hasn't done an adequate job of paying attention. To the Republicans: The GW administration will go down in History as one of the worst administrations. They eroded your constitutional rights, expanded the power of the wealthy elite, invaded countries under false pretenses, destroyed diplomatic relations with the rest of the world, and spent money like it was going out of style. To the Democrats: Obama is a dud. He promised much and has turned out to be another corporate lackey. He made deals with big pharma to ensure you could not get your medication cheaper elsewhere, he flip flopped on military tribunals, he refuses to fix health care properly through nationalization or single payer, he populates his inner circle with more Wall Street insiders, he spends money on bailouts and useless stimulus packages.

The Democrats don't create jobs The Republicans don't create jobs The government doesn't create jobs The PRIVATE SECTOR creates jobs. The only thing the first three have to do Is LOWER TAXES

I think it's pretty clear at this point that there will be a significant legal challenge to the EPA endangerment finding. Only the Congress can legislate policy and the EPA finding attempts by their own admission to circumvent this. With the momentum building it is doubtful the EPA will get past summary judgment.

EPA has, indeed, sunk to new lows under the current administration. Is there ANYONE there at EPA who thinks any CO2-related regulations promulgated on the basis of the "endangerment finding" has ANY chance of making it through the courts? Once the courts learn of the lameness of IPCC's junkscience, they will laugh Lisa and friends out of the courtroom (I would hope, anyway).

Dr. Carlin,

Joseph D'Aleo and Anthony Watts have just released a new paper that I believe goes a considerable way towards supporting your position - and vindicating your "rejected" comments on the TSD.

Title is: SURFACE TEMPERATURE RECORDS: POLICY DRIVEN DECEPTION?

It is published by the SPPI and available directly from their site: http://scienceandpublicpolicy.org/images/stories/papers/originals/surface_temp.pdf

Or via the link at WUWT

Dr. Carlin,

I am neither a scientist nor an economist, just a fellow-traveller in the blogosphere who knows how to read!

It is appalling to see how cavalierly your superiors have dismissed your work - and your concerns (how you managed to put together your very extensive criticism in a mere 4 or 5 days is astounding!). How you manage to continue to work in that environment of self-interested deception is amazing.

As a concerned Canadian, whose government is committed to "harmonizing" our emissions targets with those of your government, I really do wish that one or more of my neighbours to the South would remind The Great Green Hope (and Almighty Stopper of Climate Change) of his Presidential Ascendant Promise:

"[...] Promoting science isn’t just about providing resources (such as $500,000+ of "stimulus" funds to Michael "Hide the Decline" Mann -hro) but protecting free and open enquiry, [ensuring] facts are never overturned by politics and ideology, and listening to what our scientists have to say especially when it’s inconvenient".

FAs an Englishman in Australia, I can't help feeling that once again we look to America to sort this global scandal out. America needs no excuse to resent the UN, and this combined with the current economic plight, I'm sure the first criminal proceedings are imminent.

Please keep up the superb work. As my Aussie mates would say "Keep the bastards honest!"

Hello Dr. Carlin:

Glad to see you back in action, sir, your spirit indominatable and mind clear.

My impression is that this is all about politics. EPA will do something, then all sorts of parties will file lawsuits and there will be plenty of headlines. The Administration can say it is "fighting" against greedy energy interests. Lots of good old populism and hot air, to get its supporters fired up for the next election or two.

Maybe all the lawyers arguing really will warm up our planet, after all. That would be an irony.
